Abstract

The chapter introduces a low-cost IoT framework designed for environmental monitoring, specifically targeting areas with high humidity and temperature. It highlights the development and implementation of multi-sensor nodes with energy autonomy and low-power consumption, capable of monitoring environmental conditions such as CO2, temperature, humidity, and particulate matters. The architecture includes a wireless sensor network topology and an open-source IoT platform for real-time data analysis. The performance of the sensors is evaluated against reference data, and various filtering methods are explored to improve data quality. Additionally, the chapter delves into forecasting algorithms like LSTM and PROPHET for predicting environmental conditions. The study concludes with a discussion on the importance of data imputation to mitigate sensor node outages and suggests future work involving mesh topologies and machine learning techniques on the edge.
