Abstract

The chapter introduces a groundbreaking multi-container extrusion technique designed to address the challenges of producing wide-thin aluminium panels for large-scale applications such as seagoing vessels. The method allows for the simultaneous extrusion of multiple billets, significantly reducing the force required and enhancing the uniformity of metal flow. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the technique, showcasing its ability to produce high-quality profiles with only a fraction of the force needed in conventional extrusion processes. Furthermore, the chapter explores the industrial potential of the multi-container extrusion method through numerical simulations, revealing its capacity to enhance the production capabilities of existing presses and manufacture profiles of unprecedented scale. By offering a comprehensive analysis of the technique's benefits and potential applications, this chapter provides valuable insights into the future of aluminium extrusion technology.
