Abstract

The article delves into the critical importance of voltage references (VRs) in electronic systems, emphasizing the need for low temperature coefficient (TC) and high voltage accuracy (VA). It explores three primary VR architectures: classical, ALL-MOSFET, and hybrid, each with its advantages and limitations. The proposed VR, a hybrid design, incorporates innovative calibration techniques to achieve exceptional performance. The article introduces a MOS-based resistor and poly resistor to create a TC-adjustable current source, fine-tuned by a proportional-to-absolute-temperature (PTAT) current. A detailed tuning strategy is presented to optimize device parameters, ensuring minimal TC and a compact footprint. The article also addresses the discrepancies between simulated and measured TC, proposing an off-chip calibration circuit with a redundant binary-coded resistor string DAC (RBCRS DAC) to enhance calibration accuracy. The RBCRS DAC, with its unique design, ensures high precision without requiring high resistor matching accuracy. The article concludes with measurement results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed calibration techniques and their potential applications in various scenarios.
