Abstract

The article introduces a method to predict the impact limit speed (Vc) of composite laminates under different ambient temperatures using the Three-Dimensional Hashin Criterion. It begins with an overview of composite materials' advantages and the importance of understanding their impact resistance. The authors discuss previous research on composite impact resistance and highlight the need for more efficient prediction methods. The study involves high-speed impact tests at various temperatures and numerical simulations using ABAQUS/Explicit software. The results show that Vc decreases with increasing temperature and that the numerical predictions align closely with experimental data. The article also delves into the theoretical basis, including constitutive models and failure criteria, and provides a detailed analysis of the damage propagation process. The findings offer valuable insights into the behavior of composite laminates under high-speed impacts, contributing to the development of more resilient materials for various applications.
