Abstract

The article introduces a multi-stage interval optimization approach for the operation of smart multi-carrier energy systems, addressing the challenges posed by uncertainties in energy prices. It highlights the integration of demand-side management strategies, such as load-shifting and load-interruption, to optimize electrical demand. Additionally, the study proposes the use of a multifunctional hydrogen storage system to manage uncertainties effectively. The optimization model is solved using the Improved Sunflower Optimization (IFSO) algorithm, and the TOPSIS method is employed for decision-making. The approach is validated through case studies, demonstrating its effectiveness in minimizing operation costs and managing uncertainties in the energy market. The research contributes to the existing literature by offering a robust solution for the day-ahead optimal operation of smart multi-carrier energy systems under uncertain energy prices.
