Abstract

This chapter delves into the advancements of MEMS silicon cantilever resonant sensors, highlighting their potential for miniaturization and integration with microelectronics. It addresses the growing need for efficient and highly sensitive detection of multiple substances in complex environments. The proposed sensing scheme leverages a weakly coupled cantilever array, where the response amplitude of any coupled mode reflects multi-modal features, enabling synchronous detection of multiple traces through a single output channel. Theoretical derivations and simulations, supported by experimental validations, demonstrate the feasibility and superior performance of this innovative approach. The chapter explores the dynamic characteristics of the coupled resonators, the nonlinear vibration phenomena, and the practical implementation of the sensing scheme, providing a comprehensive overview of a groundbreaking method in trace substance detection.
