Abstract

The article introduces a novel electrochemiluminescent (ECL) method for detecting sunset yellow (SY) using a polyluminol and polyarginine modified electrode. The method leverages the inhibition effect of SY on the ECL emission of the luminol-H2O2 system, resulting in a decrease in ECL intensity proportional to SY concentration. The GCE/PLu/PLa electrode exhibits excellent ECL response, sensitivity, linearity, selectivity, and reproducibility, making it a promising tool for SY detection in food products. The method was successfully applied to detect SY in soft drinks, demonstrating its practical applicability. Compared to traditional detection methods, this ECL method offers a simpler, more sensitive, and cost-effective alternative.
