Abstract

This chapter addresses the critical need for enhancing the operating bandwidth and performance of piezoelectric energy harvesting (PEH) systems. It critically evaluates existing magnetic models—magnetic dipole method (MDM), equivalent magnetizing current method (EMCM), and magnetic charge method (MCM)—highlighting their limitations in accuracy and applicability. The chapter introduces an improved magnetic model based on MDM, which maintains a concise form while significantly enhancing precision, making it more suitable for PEH applications. Additionally, it presents a novel analytical framework that combines the sweep method (SM) and harmonic balance method (HBM), driven by swarm intelligence optimization algorithms. This framework successfully identifies neglected high-energy orbital solutions and reveals intriguing dynamic phenomena in bistable configurations. The chapter demonstrates the applicability of these advancements through the analysis of a conventional nonlinear piezoelectric cantilever beam, uncovering unique features such as isolated high-energy orbits and symmetry-breaking bifurcations. This work provides valuable insights and tools for further advancements in magnetically nonlinear PEH designs.
