Abstract

The article introduces a new methodology for reducing peak energy demand through coordinated real-time scheduling of electric vehicle (EV) charging. It addresses the challenges posed by intermittent renewable energy sources and the increasing demand for EVs. The study focuses on optimizing EV charging demand to minimize grid strain and enhance energy efficiency. The authors propose a central EV aggregator that collects real-time charging data and uses it to schedule EV charging in a way that reduces peak demand. The methodology is validated through simulations on MATLAB, demonstrating significant peak reduction and cost savings. The article also discusses the future growth of EVs in India and the role of coordinated scheduling in achieving net-zero emission goals. It highlights the importance of real-time scheduling in managing the dynamic nature of EV loads and the need for further research in this area.
