Abstract

The article introduces a new numerical simulation method for modeling the 3D rough surface topography of shot peened parts with specified spatial parameters. It addresses the limitations of existing methods, which are time-consuming and do not control surface topography effectively. The new method uses an improved autocorrelation function expression to simulate the spatial features of shot peening surfaces, making it more accurate and efficient. The method also includes a stratified approach for modeling multi-process surface topographies, such as grinding-shot peening, by combining single-process surface topographies. This approach provides a significant advancement in the field of surface engineering, enabling more precise correlation studies between surface topography and performance characteristics like contact and friction. The method has been validated through experiments and simulations, demonstrating its superior accuracy and reliability compared to existing methods.
