Abstract

The article introduces a novel strategy for preparing NiAl bronze/Zn composite using friction stir processing. This method addresses the limitations of traditional casting methods, which often result in defects like holes and inclusions. By adding Zn wires and subjecting the material to FSP, the authors achieve a uniform distribution of Zn, forming fine and homogeneous microstructures. These modifications significantly improve the mechanical and corrosion resistance properties of the composite. The study highlights the advantages of FSP, including the ability to control the amount of Zn added and the formation of beneficial phases like CuZn. Additionally, the article presents detailed characterization results using SEM, XRD, and TEM, demonstrating the successful incorporation of Zn and the enhanced microhardness of the composite.
