Abstract

This study delves into the multifaceted issue of obsolescence, exploring its economic and technological impacts. It identifies key stakeholders in the obsolescence management ecosystem and maps their information flows. The research highlights the need for a proactive approach to obsolescence management, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainable components and emerging technologies. A comprehensive questionnaire was developed to gather stakeholder requirements for a new obsolescence management tool, with results indicating a strong preference for internal management and the prioritization of functionalities such as obsolescence risk management and effective communication with existing systems. The study also compares current obsolescence management platforms, identifying gaps and areas for improvement. The conclusion underscores the importance of developing a tool that meets the real needs of the market and stakeholders involved in obsolescence management.
