Abstract

The article introduces a new wide power dynamic range CMOS RF-to-DC converter using a body-control scheme, addressing the challenges of low-voltage RF signals in energy harvesting applications. The proposed design optimizes power conversion efficiency and dynamic range while minimizing active area, making it suitable for batteryless systems like RFID, biomedical implants, and IoT. The body-control scheme effectively mitigates the threshold voltage requirement, enhancing the net current delivered to the load. The design is validated through extensive simulations and post-layout analysis, demonstrating superior performance compared to recent literature. The article also discusses potential future work, such as controlling the bulk of NMOS transistors and adjusting output impedance for different loads.
