Abstract

The article presents a novel digital protection scheme for microgrids, emphasizing the importance of microgrids in the current energy market due to their low air pollution and reduced dependence on fossil fuels. The proposed protection scheme is designed to operate in island mode, providing zonal protection and safeguarding against various solid faults and overvoltage conditions. The scheme is implemented using MATLAB/Simulink and has been validated through extensive simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness in detecting and isolating faults within a short timeframe. The article also includes a comparative analysis of existing protection schemes, highlighting the advantages of the proposed method in terms of speed and accuracy.
