Abstract

The article introduces a novel hybrid approach for efficient energy management in battery and supercapacitor-based hybrid energy storage systems for electric vehicles. It addresses the challenges of reducing system costs and enhancing performance by optimizing the balance between power and energy requirements. The proposed method utilizes a metaheuristic algorithm in combination with a Bi-LSTM model to achieve better exploration and exploitation phases, resulting in optimal energy management solutions. The research highlights the significance of considering driving cycles in evaluating performance and demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method through both simulation and experimental setups. The article offers a comprehensive solution to maximize the benefits of hybrid energy storage systems, ultimately enhancing the overall performance and autonomy of electric vehicles.
