A novel LF-TLBO-based optimisation scheme for islanding detection in microgrids

Abstract

The article presents a novel LF-TLBO-based optimisation scheme for detecting islanding in microgrids. It addresses the challenges posed by the interconnection of renewable DG units with the grid, including issues like protection coordination and power quality. The proposed scheme combines the problem-solving abilities of ANN with the flexibility of fuzzy logic, making it more adaptable and versatile. The LF-TLBO algorithm enhances the optimisation process by implementing Lévy flights, which improve both local and global exploitation of the search space. The developed ANFIS model, validated through various test scenarios, demonstrates effective islanding detection with high accuracy and minimal impact on power quality. This innovative approach shows promise in advancing the reliability and efficiency of microgrid systems.
