Abstract

The article introduces a novel power quality-improved high-step-up-gain Luo converter-powered BLDC motor drive with a model reference adaptive controller for electric vehicles. It addresses the critical challenges of energy efficiency and speed tracking in EVs, particularly under dynamic load conditions. The proposed Luo converter topology, featuring a swapped inductor design, delivers enhanced voltage gain, reduced switch stress, and improved power quality. The study also highlights the implementation of a model reference adaptive controller using artificial neural networks, which ensures robust speed control and dynamic performance. The research presents simulation and hardware validation results, demonstrating the superior performance of the proposed system in terms of power factor improvement, reduced torque ripples, and enhanced overall system efficiency. Future work aims to further optimize the system for higher power applications and integrate renewable energy sources.
