Abstract

The article introduces a novel snail shell inspired wideband fractal antenna designed for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. It highlights the growing importance of IoT in connecting devices and people across various fields such as smart cities, biomedical applications, and vehicular communication. The need for miniaturized antennas with broader bandwidth is emphasized, making fractal antennas an excellent choice for IoT devices. The proposed antenna is optimized using Characteristic Mode Analysis to achieve multiband and wideband performance. The article delves into the iterative development of the antenna geometry, modal analysis, and optimization techniques to enhance its performance. The results show that the optimized antenna offers improved S11 characteristics and quality factor, making it suitable for various IoT applications operating in the range of 2.2 GHz to 5 GHz. The article concludes by discussing potential future research directions to further enhance the bandwidth and gain of the proposed antenna.
