Abstract

The chapter introduces a novel approach to designing AI agents for the Digital Collectible Card Game Hearthstone, focusing on optimizing playstyles through profile-based evolutionary algorithms. The authors present a Greedy algorithm enhanced with Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) to adapt to three distinct playstyles: Aggro, Control, and Midrange. The EA optimizes decision rules and weights for each profile, leading to specialized agents that outperform generalized approaches. Experiments and comparisons with a competitive benchmark, EVA, demonstrate the effectiveness of the profile-based optimization. The chapter also discusses future work, including the development of a combined MCTS and Greedy approach, highlighting the potential for further advancements in AI-driven gaming strategies.
