Abstract

The chapter 'A Rapid Assessment of the Interplay Between Gender, Financial Literacy, and Peacemaking' delves into the complex dynamics of peacemaking and the underrepresentation of women in these processes. It highlights the importance of financial literacy in empowering women to participate more effectively in peacebuilding efforts. The author argues that enhancing women's financial knowledge can lead to increased confidence and better decision-making in peace processes, ultimately contributing to sustainable peace. The study also discusses the barriers that hinder women's participation, such as cultural and psychological factors, and suggests that addressing these barriers is crucial for achieving gender equality in peace and security. The chapter is based on a rapid assessment of women working in Kenyan universities, providing insights into the current levels of financial literacy and women's roles in peacemaking. It concludes by emphasizing the need for further research and action to empower women in peace processes, highlighting the potential of financial literacy as a key enabler.
