Abstract

The article addresses the fuzzy stochastic resource-constrained project scheduling problem (FS-RCPSP), which involves scheduling activities under both fuzziness and randomness in durations. It introduces a resource flow-based branch-and-bound algorithm to optimally solve this problem, incorporating five pruning rules to enhance efficiency. The algorithm has been tested on benchmark instances and shown to outperform CPLEX and SADESP in terms of solution quality and computational time. The use of fuzzy random variables and the resource flow concept in the branch-and-bound procedure is a key innovation, making this approach effective for real-world applications in project scheduling.
