Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for robust online security, particularly in banking and e-commerce. This article reviews the applications of chaotic maps in pseudo-random number generators and encryption, which are crucial for cryptographic algorithms. It discusses the evolution of pseudo-random number generators from early applications in video games to their current use in cryptography. The text explores various chaotic maps, their mathematical properties, and their implementations in hardware and software. It also delves into the use of chaotic maps for multimedia encryption, including image and audio encryption, and highlights the challenges and future directions in this field.
