Abstract

The article discusses the challenges of digital forensics in IoT environments, where the increasing number of connected devices poses significant security risks. It introduces a secure digital evidence preservation system that uses IPFS for decentralized file storage and blockchain for ensuring data integrity and transparency. The proposed system addresses issues such as data overhead, scalability, and single points of failure in traditional evidence preservation systems. By employing smart contracts and a consortium blockchain, the system ensures that digital evidence is stored securely and can be accessed only by authorized users. The article also presents a detailed experimental setup and performance metrics, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed solution in handling large volumes of digital evidence and ensuring its authenticity and integrity.
