Abstract

The article presents a detailed statistical approach for the valorization of hemicellulosic liquor obtained from sunflower stalks, focusing on its potential in biosurfactant production. It highlights the significance of lignocellulosic biomass as a renewable and abundant resource, emphasizing its role in reducing dependence on petroleum-derived products. The study investigates the use of sunflower stalks, a widely available agro-industrial waste, as a sustainable feedstock for biosurfactant production. Through an alkaline pretreatment process, the hemicellulosic fraction is extracted, providing a rich source of fermentable sugars for microbial fermentation. The research employs a Central Composite Design (CCD) to optimize the production conditions, evaluating the influence of hemicellulosic liquor, glucose, and mineral salt solution on biosurfactant yield. The results demonstrate the potential of hemicellulosic liquor as a partial substitute for glucose, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative for biosurfactant production. The study also explores the properties of the produced biosurfactants, including their surface tension reduction and emulsification capabilities, suggesting their applicability in various industrial sectors such as environmental remediation and enhanced oil recovery. The detailed statistical analysis and optimization techniques presented in the article provide valuable insights for advancing sustainable bioprocesses and valorizing lignocellulosic waste.
