Abstract

This chapter delves into the transformative potential of art-led regeneration in preserving historic villages and revitalizing cultural heritage. It explores how art initiatives can breathe new life into historic spaces, creating vibrant destinations that attract tourists and stimulate local economies. The study focuses on two compelling case studies: Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taipei, Taiwan, and Changdong Art Village in Changwon City, Korea. These examples illustrate how art can foster community engagement, enhance environmental sustainability, and drive economic growth. The chapter examines the physical, environmental, social, and economic dimensions of regeneration, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities presented by each case. Through a detailed analysis, it proposes sustainable approaches to art village management and planning, emphasizing the importance of integrated collaboration and policy alignment. The findings underscore the potential of art-led regeneration as a powerful tool for preserving cultural heritage and promoting sustainable development in historic communities.
