Abstract

The chapter introduces a systematic method for diagnosing various types of bolt-loosening faults in bolted complex structures using SOOS TFs and LTA. Previous methods, which focused on initial faults and ignored inherent nonlinearities, are found to be ineffective for serious faults. The proposed method addresses this by analyzing nonlinear dynamic characteristics and introducing three local nonlinear features. It then defines sensitive fault indicators for both initial and serious faults, enabling accurate diagnosis and localization. The method is validated through experiments on a lab bolted satellite-like structure, demonstrating its effectiveness and accuracy in diagnosing bolt-loosening faults of different severities. Comparisons with related methods highlight the superior sensitivity and position accuracy of the proposed method.
