Zusammenfassung

Trotz des einzigartigen Einsatzes von Animationstechniken und Spezialeffekten waren die Reaktionen der damaligen Öffentlichkeit auf den Hollywood-Klassiker King Kong (USA 1933) zwiespältig. Nicht nur die Vermittlung technischer Details, sondern auch die Anwendung von festgelegten Terminologien weisen deutliche Diskrepanzen auf. Vorherrschende Dichotomien bestimmten den Diskurs sowie die Wahrnehmung von filmischen Techniken, eine Entwicklung, die den Status des Animationsfilms nachhaltig beeinflusste.
