Abstract

The chapter delves into the theoretical modeling of dust dispersion caused by free-falling bulk material, focusing on the role of toroidal vortices. It begins by describing the problem of dust pollution in Vitoria-ES, Brazil, caused by industrial activities. The authors then develop a theoretical framework using the Navier-Stokes equation and vorticity to model the velocity field of a toroidal vortex. This approach allows for a detailed understanding of how dust particles are dispersed and trapped in different regions of the vortex. The chapter concludes by highlighting the potential applications of this theoretical framework in dust propagation and control strategies. The detailed analysis and innovative approach make this chapter a valuable resource for specialists in environmental management and fluid dynamics.
