Abstract

The chapter introduces a tool designed to analyze syntactic dependencies in the web stack, specifically between HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3. It highlights the challenges faced by modern web developers in managing these dependencies and the limitations of existing tools. The tool aims to reduce the cycle time by providing a straightforward static analysis solution that catches a high percentage of injected defects. The research questions addressed include the significance of syntax errors in string identifiers, the delta between defect injection and discovery, and the effectiveness of the tool in reducing this delta. The tool's implementation and validation against real-world codebases are detailed, showcasing its potential to significantly improve developer productivity and reduce defects in web applications.
