Abstract

The chapter discusses the importance of DC-AC power conversion in various electrical energy applications and introduces a new multilevel inverter topology called the reduced switch count multilevel DC link inverter (MLDCL). This topology is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional inverters by reducing the number of semiconductor devices and simplifying control strategies. The chapter presents a Unipolar Phase Disposition (UPD) PWM technique that further enhances the efficiency and modularity of the MLDCL inverter. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in generating high-quality multilevel outputs with reduced switching losses. The chapter concludes by highlighting the advantages of the MLDCL inverter and its potential applications in photovoltaic-based grid-connected systems.
