Abstract

The chapter introduces a web-based simulator designed to assist professionals in detecting leaks in water distribution pipes using vibro-acoustic techniques. It emphasizes the critical need for effective water management due to climate change and high demand in urban areas. The software, accessible online, uses a wave model that accounts for pipe properties, surrounding medium, and sensor types to provide estimates of leak position and velocity. It offers two user-friendly interfaces for frequency bandwidth estimation and cross-correlation analysis, making it a valuable tool for leak detection teams. The chapter also compares the software's results with actual leak data from test rigs, demonstrating its accuracy and practical applicability in real-world scenarios. By addressing the challenges of subjective interpretation and inaccuracies in commercial leak noise correlators, this chapter offers a significant advancement in the field of water distribution management.
