Abstract

The chapter delves into the development and implementation of a digital Kamishibai system tailored for children, drawing from the traditional Japanese storytelling method. The authors conducted a workshop to evaluate the system's usability and effectiveness, involving children aged 2 to 12. The workshop aimed to investigate the children's behavior and collect their works for analysis. The results showed that children could author and perform Kamishibai with ease, demonstrating creativity and understanding of story structure. The system's unique feature of ad-lib character movement during performance was well-received. The analysis of the children's works revealed their ability to reorganize stories and express originality, even within given constraints. This chapter offers valuable insights into the potential of digital tools in enhancing children's educational and creative experiences.
