Abstract

The article delves into the innovative use of acrylic copolymer and organic acid to create a press-coated pulsatile tablet for nifedipine, a drug commonly used to treat hypertension. The study focuses on enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of nifedipine, which is crucial for its effective absorption. The research employs a 32 factorial design to optimize the formulation and achieve the desired drug release lag time. The use of sepitrap 4000 as a novel solubilizer is highlighted, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving the dissolution rate of nifedipine. The article also includes detailed characterization studies, such as FTIR, DSC, and SEM, to ensure the compatibility and stability of the formulation. The development of this pulsatile drug delivery system is significant for treating conditions that require time-specific drug release, such as hypertension, which follows a circadian rhythm.
