Abstract

The boost factor of active-switched inductor boost qZSI (cASLB-qZSI) is relatively high. In this paper, a new extended boost inverter, namely active-switched boost qZSI (ASB-qZSI), is proposed. Accessing higher voltage gain in higher modulation index with continuous input current and fewer components in Z-source network are the advantages of proposed inverter. The proposed ASB-qZSI structure generates higher AC output voltage than that of the conventional active-switched inductor boost qZSI (cASLB-qZSI) because it has fewer elements (one inductor and three diodes are reduced) in Z-source network and less shoot-through current. The boost factors of proposed ASB-qZSI and classic capacitor-assisted qZSI (sCA-qZSI) are the same. However, the proposed topology has fewer components; two inductors and three capacitors are reduced by adding one extra switch. The shoot-through current in proposed ASB-qZSI is decreased by half in comparison with conventional sCA-qZSI. To show the correct operation of the proposed ASB-qZSI, it is simulated with simple boost pulse-width modulation method in PSCAD/EMTDC, and then the experimental results are presented.
