Abstract

The chapter delves into the complex problem of scheduling parallelizable jobs on speed scalable processors, aiming to minimize energy consumption and completion times. It introduces an adaptive genetic algorithm with optimized operators, such as One Point Crossover and Ordered Crossover, to tackle the NP-hard nature of the problem. The algorithm is designed to adaptively select crossover operators during the search process, enhancing its effectiveness. Through rigorous experimental evaluation, the proposed algorithm demonstrates superior performance compared to existing greedy heuristics, making it a valuable contribution to the field of scheduling algorithms in computer systems.
