In order to realize CO2-free long-distance transport, an internal combustion engine powered by hydrogen represents a cost- effective alternative. For the conversion of a conventional diesel heavy-duty engine to hydrogen operation, key components such as the combustion system, turbocharger, injection and ignition system have to be redesigned. FEV describes how the simulative design of the combustion system must be carried out in order to achieve the lowest possible NOx raw emissions in combination with high efficiencies. …
