Abstract

The article delves into the intricacies of tensegrity networks, particularly those with zero mean curvature, and their potential applications in architecture and engineering. It discusses the unique properties of minimal surfaces, such as the rectangularity of their parametric lines and isogenic mapping, which make them ideal for space-covering or space-enclosure structures. The research highlights the development of algorithms that simplify the geometric design of these structures, eliminating the need for mathematical approximation methods. The algorithms have been successfully implemented in real-world projects, including a helical tensegrity structure at Palazzo Mora in Venice and an enneper tensegrity structure at Fira Center in Barcelona. These installations not only validate the algorithms but also demonstrate the potential of minimal surface tensegrity structures in creating innovative and efficient architectural designs.
