Abstract

The article 'Advancements in Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Technologies: A Comprehensive Review' delves into the significance of vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) as a sustainable energy source, given the escalating costs and environmental impacts of fossil fuels. VAWTs are particularly advantageous in urban settings due to their ability to harness wind from various directions and their lower noise output. The review highlights key benefits such as cost-effectiveness, reliability, environmental benefits, and economic growth potential. Recent innovations focus on improving VAWT efficiency, including airfoil optimization, solidity adjustments, and advanced aerodynamic techniques. The article also discusses various VAWT configurations, such as Darrieus vertical axis wind turbines (DVAWTs) and Savonius vertical axis wind turbines (SVAWTs), and explores hybrid designs that combine the advantages of both.
