Abstract

In a world characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), traditional project management methods often fall short in meeting the dynamic needs of software development. This chapter examines the limitations of Scrum, one of the most widely adopted agile frameworks, and proposes innovative solutions to bridge the gap between customer expectations and delivered outcomes. The analysis begins with an exploration of the challenges inherent in software development, including difficulties in cooperation between technical and business stakeholders, the complexity of estimating project timelines, and the measurement of project progress. The chapter delves into the intricacies of Scrum, highlighting how its principles and practices can sometimes lead to surprises and unmet expectations. Through a detailed case study of a project organization using Scrum, the chapter illustrates the practical challenges faced in real-world scenarios. It then introduces several groundbreaking solutions, such as the CollaborAgile Domain-Specific Language (DSL) and the Collaborative Development Method (CDM), designed to enhance collaboration, reduce uncertainties, and ensure a more precise alignment with customer needs. The chapter concludes with a forward-looking perspective on the future of agile methodologies, emphasizing the need for continuous innovation and adaptation in the ever-evolving landscape of software development.
