Abstract

This chapter explores a sophisticated model designed to predict and manage agricultural disasters, with a focus on biological threats. The model integrates real-time data from IoT devices and social networks, combining this with expert knowledge to enhance disaster prediction, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategies. Key variables such as plant species, infestation agents, and threat levels are defined using coupled equations, providing a comprehensive view of the system. The framework progresses from data collection at the field level to complex risk analysis and decision-making processes. It includes a trigger level and alarm system that monitors infestation levels in real time, initiating automatic alerts when predefined thresholds are exceeded. The severity of infestation is assessed using a function that considers both the infestation level and its rate of spread. Risk assessment involves calculating a risk score based on the likelihood and impact of potential disasters, guiding decision-making and resource allocation. The model is adaptable, scalable, and designed to optimize resource use, minimize plant species loss, and improve the overall resilience of agricultural systems.
