Abstract

This chapter delves into the optimization of airline passenger plane arrival and departure plans at Istanbul airport using genetic algorithms and evolutionary strategies. The study aims to minimize passenger loss due to prolonged transit times by improving the synchronization of international and domestic flights. By comparing the original plan with the results of genetic algorithms and evolutionary strategies, the research highlights the potential for significant improvements in passenger handling efficiency. The use of one-point crossover in genetic algorithms and a mutation operator in evolutionary strategies is explored, with evolutionary strategies demonstrating superior performance after 50 iterations. The chapter provides a comprehensive analysis of the methods, results, and implications for the airline industry, offering valuable insights into the application of optimization techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
