Abstract

The chapter delves into the challenges faced by the Energy-Aware Dual-Path Geographic Routing (EDGR) protocol in wireless sensor networks, particularly wormhole and blackhole attacks. It introduces an adaptive scheme that enhances data transmission by detecting and repairing these attacks, thereby improving overall network performance. The proposed method involves electing a synchronizing sensor node to verify intermediary node failures, authorize users, and detect attacks. This approach simplifies existing complex systems and achieves the shortest path for effective transmission. The chapter also includes a comprehensive simulation analysis, demonstrating the superior performance of the adaptive local repair scheme in terms of delivery delay, packet drop ratio, and packet delivery rate compared to existing techniques. The research concludes by highlighting the potential for future enhancements, such as adjusting the protocol for dense nodes and improving mobility strategies.
