Abstract

The chapter examines the economic measures implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic, focusing on the responses of Sweden, Singapore, and the Czech Republic. It uses principal component analysis to construct an aggregate index, comparing the extent of government interventions across 168 countries. The study highlights the diversity in economic policies and the significant role of fiscal policy during the pandemic. It also provides recommendations for future economic policies, emphasizing the importance of sustainable public financing and digital infrastructure investment. The analysis reveals that advanced countries like Sweden took the most extensive measures, while poorer countries implemented minimal responses. The chapter concludes with suggestions for modifying the economic stimulus index and correlating it with macroeconomic indicators for better future analysis.
