Abstract

This article delves into the use of non-edible oil-based plasticizers for PVC, with a focus on ricinoleic acid esters. It evaluates the effects of different alkyl chain lengths on plasticization, comparing these esters with commercial plasticizers like DOTP, ESO, and ATBC. The study assesses various properties such as glass transition temperature, mechanical properties, thermal-oxidative stability, volatility resistance, and migration resistance. The findings highlight the importance of functional groups and alkyl chain lengths in enhancing PVC's performance, offering insights into the design of more effective and stable plasticizers. The research also addresses the growing demand for sustainable and non-toxic plasticizers, making it a valuable read for those interested in advancing PVC technology.
