An Effective and Efficient Perceptual Organization Method for Image Segmentation

Existing approaches of perceptual organization are either less effective or less efficient. Here, we propose an effective and efficient perceptual organization method for image segmentation. The method is characterized by following: Firstly, Region Adjacency Graph (RAG) representation is adopted in the method, which reduces the computation complexity suffered by previous organization methods. Secondly, region-wise global weights are defined in RAG by utilizing global optimization criterion, which increases the effectiveness of our proposed organization method. Segmentation results validate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed organization method for image segmentation.
