Abstract

The article discusses the critical role of pattern synthesis in array processing, highlighting its applications in radar, communication, seismic exploration, and radio astronomy. Traditional methods, such as Chebyshev’s method, are limited to uniform linear arrays, while newer numerical synthesis techniques based on adaptive array theory address arbitrary arrays but face challenges in computational complexity and flexibility. The proposed ARC-MP and ARC-SP methods offer closed-form solutions, reducing computational complexity and enhancing flexibility. The article provides a detailed analysis of these methods, including their algorithms and computational advantages, and demonstrates their effectiveness through several numerical examples. The ARC-SP algorithm is particularly effective for point-by-point pattern synthesis, while the ARC-MP algorithm excels in multi-point simultaneous control. The results show that these methods outperform existing techniques in terms of convergence speed and computational efficiency, making them valuable tools for pattern synthesis in various applications.
