Abstract

The study focuses on the application of an endoglucanase and lipase enzyme consortium for deinking old newspapers, a significant step in paper recycling. The research examines the effects of enzyme doses and reaction times on deinking efficiency, pulp brightness, and strength properties. Additionally, it employs advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscopy to analyze the ultrastructural changes in the deinked pulp. The findings indicate that the enzyme consortium not only enhances deinking efficiency but also improves the overall quality of the recycled paper, making it a promising alternative to conventional chemical deinking methods.
