Abstract

The deployment of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) in healthcare has revolutionized patient monitoring. However, challenges such as energy consumption, temperature management, and network stability persist. This article introduces the Energy-Temperature Aware Routing protocol (ETAR), a fuzzy-based approach that addresses these issues. ETAR optimizes energy consumption through multi-hop routing and temperature control mechanisms, ensuring nodes operate within safe temperature ranges. The protocol uses a fuzzy inference system to select relay nodes, balancing energy load and preventing hotspots. Simulation results demonstrate that ETAR significantly improves network stability, energy efficiency, and lifetime compared to existing protocols. The article concludes by highlighting the practical implications and future directions of ETAR in enhancing WBAN performance.
