Abstract

This article introduces an entanglement-free authenticated quantum key distribution (QKD) protocol that leverages single-photon sequences and unitary transformations for secure communication. The protocol ensures identity authentication and key distribution through a series of steps involving a third-party UTP (Untrusted Third Party) that performs quantum measurements and publishes results. The article also extends the protocol to multiparty scenarios using locally indistinguishable orthogonal product bases, demonstrating its feasibility through security and efficiency analyses. Key topics include the background of quantum cryptography, the detailed process of the two-party authentication QKD protocol, the extension to multiparty scenarios, and the protocol's resistance to various attacks such as impersonation, intercept-resend, and Trojan horse attacks. The article concludes with an evaluation of the protocol's correctness, security, and efficiency, highlighting its practical significance in quantum-secure communication.
