Abstract

The article delves into the evaluation of event-based cameras for particle image velocimetry (PIV), a crucial tool in experimental fluid dynamics. It explores the challenges faced by traditional PIV methods, such as high costs and significant data storage requirements, and presents event-based cameras as a promising solution. The study investigates the capabilities of event-based cameras in various flow visualization scenarios, including their high temporal resolution and data efficiency. Key topics covered include the architecture and functioning of event-based cameras, their advantages in real-time data transport and processing, and their potential applications in autopiloting, object tracking, and 3D reconstruction. The article also provides a detailed experimental setup and results, comparing the performance of event-based cameras with traditional sCMOS cameras.
